On November 9, 1938, for about 48 hours, hundreds of synagogues were set on fire and more than seven thousand businesses were plundered or destroyed and the police did nothing to stop it. The fire brigade had orders to not put our the fire unless arian nearby properties were at risk. Kristallnacht was not an spontaneous or improvised act, it stood out as the breaking point and of no return in the violence that took place against the Jewish German population.
During those two days, about 30 thousand Jewish were incarcerated and sent to the Dachau concentration camp, and at least 90 were killed in the streets.
